arriving. even wrote to a cnn reporter last month. i dare to respond only moved by seriousness of the media you represent, since as you can imagine, i am deeply concerned about my security. cnn responded asking peter williams to meet us anywhere, even here to give us proof that any of his allegations were true. we have since sent six e-mails to p. williams. the response -- silence. we tracked down the source of the e-mails through a technical school in santa domingo to this internet provider where we were promptly escorted into an office where the company denied the e-mail came from one of its customers. >> is there any way you would give us the information on this man? >> i cannot identify right now that name and also the ip address is not from here for us. >> the dominican republic's district attorney's office confirmed to cnn the office is about to investigate the source of peter williams and his damaging e-mails. but so far, internet only and unproven scandal, however, has brought more scrutiny on the very real business dealings of one of senator menendez's closest friends. dr. salomon

commercials. >>> this is cnn breaking news. >> we're going to switch gears here. at least eight people were killed and dozens injured when a tour bus struck a pickup truck and rolled over on a treacherous highway in california. this happened in san bernardino, 80 miles south of los angeles. the road is so narrow that rescue workers have had a very difficult time reaching all the victims there. what is the very latest here? >> well, this is what chp is telling us now. there are eight people confirmed dead. but they say they believe that number is going to change. meaning they will find out many more people died in this crash. also, we've had our own count here. about 27 people have been taken to five local hospitals. six are critical. some of those are children. my photographer and i walked up to the crash site about a half mile from here. it is absolutely stunning to see what happened here. it looks as if this tour bus flipped over at one point. much of it is caved in right above where the driver would sit. we understand people were ejected from the bus. in this crash scene you can clearly

go through anything this painful. >> she really struggled. cnn nichelle turner live for us this morning. >> a very talented and troubled life she led. mindy mccready recently was seeking help. checking into rehab earlier this month she appeared with dr. drew on his show, celebrity rehab. as far as he knew, she was trying to get better. he spoke to don lemon last night. >> she had actually been doing very well. things looking up for her. she had children with a boyfriend who ended up killing himself a few weeks ago. she was struggling after that. actually admitted herself to a psychiatric facility. and there is a cautionary tale about the stigma of mental illness and the way the public attacks celebrities who take care of themselves. she became so fierceful of the stigma and the way people responding to her being hospitalized that she actually checked herself out prematurely and now we have what we have. >> at the heart of mccready's struggle, she leaves two kids without their mother. 6 years old and 10 months old. that's the heart-breaking aspect to the tragedy. soledad, mc

it is because of age and fatigue. we're getting the editor of cnn's belief blog. thank you for talking to us. we know that the pope can resign, canon law in 1917 made it possible. that said, it's incredibly unusual. >> yeah it is incredibly unusual. i was speaking with archbishop a few months ago in springfield and archbishop of miami. he said keep in mind, cardinal ratzinger when he was a cardinal had every intention of retiring. archbishops are forced into retirement at age of 75 if they have not been elevated to cardinal. before he became pope benedict, he every intention of hanging it up are, stepping into the summer of his life and enjoying retirement. he was in many ways a surprise candidate to the pope initially as we talked about. forced retirement, many of them look forward to. i have talked to a lot of cardinals in the retirement age and when you reach that age, keep in mind, many have been studying to be priests since they were teens. they look forward to not being in that position. the other thing i have been talking about, pope john ii died in office. not sure we'll see that from th
